Unfiltered Audio releases Sinusoidal Run Rhythm at $45 as an introduction: a plugin that generates groove through sinusoidal oscillations synchronized to microtiming grids, with filter modulation, panning, and multi-instance synchronization.
DnB groove isn't just about quantized timing or global swing. What sets a breathing break apart from a flat one is microtiming—subtle variations in the amplitude of each transient, the modulation of every attack. Until now, this was done manually: volume automation, sculpted sidechain, layered samples. Sinusoidal Run Rhythm by Unfiltered Audio offers a direct mathematical approach.
The principle: Sinusoidal Run Rhythm takes any incoming signal and generates a groove pattern from microtemporal grids—sinusoidal oscillations that modulate the sound’s amplitude in sync with the BPM. The result: an algorithmic groove, not drawn by hand.
Developed in collaboration with composer Steffen Krebber, the plugin exposes several real-time modulation axes:
A MIDI version is also available for triggering and external real-time control.
Microtemporal processing is exactly what gives DnB sub-bass its texture, layered breaks their depth, and mid-range elements their "breathing" feel beneath the kick. Applying Sinusoidal Run Rhythm to a break loop that’s too rigid or a bassline lacking movement can introduce that organic grain without redrawing every automation.
Multi-instance synchronization is the most compelling feature: if the bass groove and break groove are mathematically linked, the result fits together effortlessly—where a traditional sidechain would require fine-tuning.
Intro price: $45 (regular price: $59). Available directly from Unfiltered Audio. Supported formats (VST/AU/AAX) are not specified in available sources—check the official site before purchase.
