Chase & Status pay tribute to Lenzman at the Let It Roll Festival

A suspended moment during a full set in Prague: the duo plays Lenzman's Alicia Keys bootleg, shortly after the Dutch producer's passing.

The Scene

Prague, Saturday, August 1, 2026. The Let It Roll Festival is in full swing when Chase & Status take a pause in their set. Before launching the next loop, the duo greets Lenzman to the crowd—and drops the bootleg that the Dutch producer had signed on Alicia Keys’ Unthinkable.

What Happened

The gesture is simple, but it carries weight. Teije van Vliet, known by his stage name Lenzman, passed away in July 2026 after a three-year battle with cancer. Chase & Status, who were on stage at Let It Roll that night, chose to honor him through music rather than words.

The track they chose says it all: the Unthinkable bootleg is one of Lenzman’s signatures—a way to infuse soul and lyricism into a drum & bass sound design that many described as melodic and soulful without becoming formulaic.

Lenzman: A Lasting Mark on the Genre

Teije van Vliet had founded The North Quarter in 2016, a label that carved out its own niche in liquid DnB. His beginnings trace back to a debut album on Metalheadz in 2014—already proof that Goldie had an eye for talent. Goldie himself responded to his death by calling him “one of the kindest and most beautiful people” he’d ever met in the scene.

The drum & bass community answered in kind: no easy tears, just music.

The Festival Continues

Let It Roll 2026 carried on with its usual lineup—multiple stages, UK headliners, artists from the Czech and Central European scenes. But that moment, midway through a Chase & Status set, functioned like a minute of silence at 174 BPM.
