Interviews & portraits

The 1 More Thing interview sets the stage: a front disc, almost without features, presented by the artist as his most personal work.

The object in question

On July 27, 2026, 1 More Thing publishes a long interview with Mitekiss about the release of No Radio Play, his fourth album. It's a special moment in his discography: after releases on Hospital Records and Goldfat - a label he co-directs with Mr Porter - it's his first fully independent record.

The title is a program in itself. No Radio Play: no compromises, no "premium single format track," no name features to reassure radio programming. Mitekiss describes the project himself as the most personal thing he has published.

What the interview shows

The interview should be read in its entirety at 1 More Thing - it's not our job to paraphrase it. But a few elements deserve to be highlighted here, as they outline a trajectory.

Almost no features. The album is described as "a very frank collection of drum & bass tracks with barely a feature or collaboration in sight". Two notable exceptions: DRS and Rosie P. Two voices that, in the current DnB landscape, don't put their name on a track by chance - DRS has never been a circumstantial feature, and the space left for Rosie P says something about the care given to the record.

A contrast with Hospital and Goldfat. Mitekiss's previous records circulated in the ecosystem of a label - with its format expectations, artistic direction, and release conventions. No Radio Play is released outside of this framework. It's an industrial choice before being an aesthetic one, but the two respond to each other: the artist frees himself from a set of rules to sign an object where he controls everything.

The title as a stance. The name of the album is not ironic: it's a claim. A record for the scene that listens to it, not for radio rotation. In current DnB - where the question of mainstream readability (streaming, UK radios, playlists) works for all major labels - this positioning counts.

What we retain

Mitekiss is not a beginner artist: his career has gone through Hospital Records, the most visible structure of modern liquid, and Goldfat, an author's label. No Radio Play is a coherent step aside - the record of a producer who has done his training in the big frameworks and who now chooses to release outside, without dependence on an imposed promotional cycle.

What the 1 More Thing interview tells us, in passing, is a conversation we hear more and more in the DnB of 2026: that of producers who have given their best years to labels and who are now taking back control, all the way through the process (mix, presses, digital distribution, communication).

To listen to and to read

The album is described as a "very frank collection of drum & bass tracks" - we can't say more without the full listen, which will come in a future review. In the meantime, the 1 More Thing interview is the best entry point: no rushed promo or portrait, a long text that lets Mitekiss explain his approach.

The record in three facts

Fourth album. First fully independent. Only two features (DRS, Rosie P).
